A disease such as inflammation of the stomach walls is one of the most common. There are many ways to take turmeric for gastritis. After all, this spice is one of the effective methods of treatment at home.

Turmeric properties description

Turmeric is a herbaceous plant of the ginger family, the rhizomes of which are dried and ground into a powder known by the same name as a spice. There are several names for the spice: turmeric, haldi, haridra, Indian saffron. In Russia, the most common name for this root is turmeric.

The sunny, bright color of the spice is provided by the substance curcumin. It is used to produce a food additive (turmeric), used to make mayonnaise, margarine, and cheeses. But there is another property of turmeric that makes the spice a valuable medicine: curcumin promotes the death of cancer cells. Therefore, doctors recommend adding this seasoning to food for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Turmeric contains microelements: iron, calcium, iodine, phosphorus and vitamins: B1, B2, K, B3. But you shouldn’t seriously think that using seasoning for homemade dishes will provide the norm of nutrients in the body: vitamins are contained in minimal doses.

Turmeric is a herbaceous plant of the ginger family whose rhizomes are dried and ground into a powder known by the same name as a spice.

As for essential oil and its components, even a small amount of them has a beneficial effect on humans. Therefore, the use of aromatic spice is recommended to maintain tone, cleanse and heal the body.

Turmeric for gastrointestinal diseases

Thanks to its vitamin composition, the spice helps normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Turmeric prevents: inflammation and pain; the occurrence of a bacterial infection, including Helicobacter pylori - a gastritis bacterium; mucosal atrophy; development of pathogenic microflora.

The spice has a wound-healing effect; it perfectly reduces acidity in the stomach during gastritis, relieves bloating and heaviness. To prevent stomach diseases, it is enough to add spice to food, but in case of exacerbation of gastritis, you need to know how much raw material is needed to prepare an effective remedy.

The Indian formula for calculating the required dose of powder for exacerbation of gastritis is as follows:

  • find out your exact weight;
  • grind the roots into powder;
  • to create a healing composition you need 100 mg per kilogram of body weight.

With a weight of 60 kg, 6 grams of raw materials will be required. With high acidity, gastritis cannot be treated with turmeric, because it increases the acidity of gastric juice.

Properties for stomach diseases

The positive properties of yellow root for the treatment of diseases of the digestive system are that it:

  • treats stomach and intestinal ulcers;
  • promotes emptying of the gallbladder;
  • cleanses the liver of toxins, promotes cell regeneration;
  • kills cancer cells;
  • supports beneficial microflora;
  • restores the digestion process;
  • normalizes acidity.

Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin, which is found in large quantities in the plant, pancreatitis, which is an inflammation of the pancreas, can be cured.

Is it possible to take turmeric for gastritis?

Turmeric for gastritis is quite acceptable as part of the treatment menu, although not for all patients with gastritis. Turmeric is strictly prohibited for gastritis during the period of exacerbation of the disease. Also, the restriction and even ban on the use of turmeric for gastritis applies to those cases when the disease develops as a type of hyperacidity. Today, turmeric is not prohibited, but is often even used in the treatment of gastritis. It is often used in the form of various infusions or decoctions as part of complex products.

It is important to understand that only an experienced doctor can calculate the dosage and duration of its use, as well as the very possibility of using turmeric in the treatment of gastritis. You cannot do this on your own.

Recipes using turmeric that help fight gastritis:

  • a decoction based on turmeric and activated carbon: mix turmeric powder (10–15 grams) with three crushed tablets of activated carbon and pour the mixture with 60 ml of homemade milk. Stir thoroughly to avoid lumps and place over medium heat until boiling. The resulting decoction should be taken 1 tablespoon after meals 3-4 times a day. Drink the decoction only at room temperature. The course of treatment is 10–12 days, with a break of at least 7 days;
  • infusion of turmeric with honey: mix one teaspoon of honey with a crushed tablet of activated carbon and 5 grams of turmeric until smooth. Use the resulting mixture at night for 10 days;
  • drink for gastritis with turmeric oil : dilute 2-3 drops of turmeric oil in 0.5 liters of water. Take three times a day, half an hour before meals.

Gastritis worsens and reduces both the patient’s gastronomic range and his entire lifestyle. Flatulence, stomach pain and other symptoms appear that can worsen a person’s life. However, a simple remedy like turmeric can improve the patient’s taste, as well as eliminate negative symptoms and the clinical picture of the disease.

Gastritis with low acidity

Turmeric is very beneficial for the stomach in case of hypoacid gastritis, when the production of gastric juice is reduced. However, during the acute period of the disease, the use of seasoning is prohibited. During the remission stage, it is necessary to use “juice” products in the diet. These include turmeric, which stimulates the production of gastric juice and improves digestion . Let's look at various ways to use it for hypoacid gastritis.

Yellow spice paste

For the pasta you will need:

  • honey – 2 tbsp;
  • turmeric – 1 tsp;
  • pepper - on the tip of a knife or spoon.

Mix all the ingredients, eat a teaspoon of the mixture 15 minutes before meals. The finished pasta can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a month.

Carrot lemon drink with turmeric

This drink is a tasty immune “cocktail” that contains a lot of vitamins, stimulates the production of gastric juice and significantly improves overall condition . To create it you need to take:

  • carrots – 200g;
  • lemon – 20g;
  • yellow spice – 1 tsp;
  • a pinch of pepper;
  • honey – 2 tbsp;
  • water – 800 ml.
  1. Peel and wash the carrots, chop them (in a blender or on a fine grater), and squeeze out the juice.
  2. Lemons need to be washed, zested and juiced.
  3. Grind the lemon zest and mix with the grated carrots that remain after the juice has been squeezed out of them. Fill with water and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Then we filter, put it on the stove again, bring to a boil, pour in carrot and lemon juice.
  5. Then leave the mixture to cool. Add honey and seasonings to the warm drink and stir.

Turmeric for gastritis

Turmeric for gastritis can provide indispensable help in getting rid of this disease. Turmeric has strong antiseptic properties and is able to completely suppress the inflammatory process not only in the gastrointestinal tract, but throughout the body. The spice has the ability to reduce the acidity of gastric juice.

Thanks to this, the use of turmeric for gastritis is not prohibited, the main thing is to choose the right dosage. However, for gastritis with high acidity during an exacerbation, it is better to avoid consuming turmeric. In this case, it is advisable to use it as a prophylactic agent.

Scientists from India have made the correct calculation of the dosage, which has the desired therapeutic effect with benefits for the whole body - 100 mg of turmeric should be consumed per 1 kg of a person’s weight.

The spice has the ability to balance the balance of enzymes, and this is the basis for the treatment of gastritis and even peptic ulcers. In order for the treatment of gastritis to be more effective, it is necessary to use turmeric recipes and medications in complex use, since gastritis of any form is a very serious disease and, if treated incorrectly, can lead to various complications.

Turmeric for gastritis with low acidity

Reduced stomach acidity is not a contraindication to the use of the spice. Curcumin has the ability to balance the composition of enzymes and increases appetite. The spice's ability to fight cancer cells, inhibiting their growth, is noted. And malignant transformation is one of the complications of gastritis and ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. A general tonic effect of the product on the body was also noticed.

Causes and symptoms of gastritis

The leading causes of the disease are the consumption of alcoholic beverages and poor-quality food. A number of products lead to the development of inflammatory changes in the gastric mucosa. It was previously believed that gastritis was a hereditary disease. But now scientists have come to the conclusion that the bacteria that causes the disease is transmitted in many ways.

Causes of the disease:

  • presence of the bacterium Helicobacter pilori,
  • metabolic disease,
  • food poisoning,
  • reflux,
  • stress and depression,
  • smoking.

The disease manifests itself in the form of painful symptoms. The feeling is accompanied by aching or pressing pain. Unpleasant sensations occur after eating.

The main signs of gastritis include:

  • pain in the stomach area,
  • heartburn,
  • coating on the tongue,
  • upset and bloating
  • belching sour,
  • pale skin,
  • dizziness,
  • general malaise.

At the first such symptoms, you can begin treating gastritis with turmeric at home. This spicy spice has a number of beneficial properties. It can be eaten as a seasoning or used for a number of diseases.

Before starting treatment, it is worth noting that the disease is distinguished by the degree of acidity: high, low and normal. It is especially recommended to use turmeric for gastritis with low acidity.

Turmeric contraindications for gastritis

Despite its obvious benefits, turmeric can have a negative effect on the body if you ignore some rules. The spice does not combine well with medications; it is better to exclude it during the treatment period. In the early stages of pregnancy, the spice can lead to miscarriage, as it stimulates uterine contractions. Excessive intake of the product often causes allergies. For hepatitis and acute peptic ulcers, do not use the spice. It is not recommended for children under 3 years of age, as it can cause diathesis.

Contraindications and harm

No matter how beneficial turmeric is, it, like all healing agents, can cause harm, especially if used by patients who have contraindications. Thus, patients who have been diagnosed with bile duct obstruction should not resort to treatment of stomach diseases with turmeric. This prohibition is due to the ability of the spice to enhance the production of bile. Therefore, if you take medicine from turmeric during an exacerbation of the disease, the result will be negative, and the patient will encounter a number of undesirable symptoms, some of which are nausea and diarrhea.

The plant is not recommended during pregnancy due to its ability to increase the tone of the uterus. People who have an individual intolerance to this spice should not treat their stomach with turmeric. Particular care should be taken by patients who are already taking pharmaceutical drugs, because turmeric often enhances their therapeutic effect on the body. It is strictly contraindicated to use the spice for a long time, as it will have the opposite effect, which will only aggravate the stomach condition.

Brief conclusions

Treatment of all forms of gastritis requires a balanced and careful approach and adherence to diet. New foods, in particular turmeric, should be introduced into the diet gradually and only on the recommendation of a doctor. You should strictly adhere to established consumption standards and recommended recipes. Only if you follow the instructions, consuming turmeric will be beneficial.
