Not only medications, but also unconventional methods help to cope with the problem. The latter include pomegranate peels. They not only eliminate diarrhea, and restore the body after prolonged dehydration. In some cases, the fruit is recommended to be used as an addition to the main therapy.

To prepare a medicinal product, it is advisable to use the peels of ripe, undamaged fruits.

Each product has its own area of effective application. The effect of pomegranate decoction is limited to the following types of diarrhea in children:

  • diarrhea from dietary errors - overeating, large amounts of fatty, difficult to digest food;
  • neurogenic diarrhea caused by stress, anxiety, and excitement of the child;
  • complex therapy of loose stools caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi;
  • antibiotic associated diarrhea is accompanied by an inflammatory process in the colon. Medicine from pomegranate peels will protect irritated mucous membranes, reduce inflammation, strengthen blood vessels;
  • in case of poisoning with salts of heavy metals, tannins precipitate toxins into insoluble compounds and safely remove them from the body;

The pomegranate pericarp is a hard skin containing a huge amount of useful elements:

  • vitamins;
  • tannins;
  • microelements (sodium, iron, calcium);
  • organic acids;
  • polyphenols (antioxidants).

The effectiveness of the method lies in the combination of the antimicrobial and astringent effects of pomegranate peel (some substances kill pathogenic bacteria, others reduce irritation of the intestinal mucosa, extinguish the inflammatory reaction, and stop diarrhea). Vitamins and antioxidants help strengthen the immune system and speed up recovery.

Pomegranate is used not only for diarrhea. Its medicinal properties help cope with many diseases:

  • dysentery,
  • dysbacteriosis;
  • peptic ulcer;
  • helminthic infestations;
  • intoxication.

Procurement of raw materials

To obtain high-quality raw materials, you need to properly prepare the fruits. Choose a pomegranate with a beautiful, smooth, dry peel without spots, rotting areas, or mold. Otherwise, pathogenic fungi will spoil the raw materials, and therapeutic measures may result in problems. The pomegranate should be firm to the touch; soft fruits were most likely beaten or frozen during transportation; perhaps they are beginning to deteriorate from the inside.

Before eating, thoroughly wash, wipe and peel the fruits. To use the peels, separate the white part from the thin red-brown skin - only the top layer is needed. Dry in the shade, avoid direct sunlight. Protect from flies by covering with gauze. If you have a special dryer for fruits and vegetables, you can use it, it will save a lot of time.

Grind dry peels into powder using a coffee grinder. Store in a paper bag for no more than a year.

The effectiveness of pomegranate for diarrhea

In adults, dangerous consequences can be expressed in nausea, vomiting, appetite suppression, and skin rashes. It is necessary to follow the dosage and duration of the course of treatment. Systematic exposure to tannins will lead to atrophy of the gastrointestinal mucosa, decreased digestive functions, and the formation of congestion in the stomach. Enemas with pomegranate decoction promote constipation and anal fissures.

To use pomegranate peels for diarrhea, you need to choose the appropriate recipe. There are several options for using this tool:

  1. Pour boiled water over the prepared powder and leave to infuse for half an hour. After preparing an infusion of pomegranate peels, it can be added to food or consumed half an hour before meals. To increase the effectiveness and improve the taste of the composition, add orange, grape or apple juice.
  2. Pomegranate peel powder can be poured with hot water and placed in a steam bath. It is recommended to add an infusion of chamomile or motherwort to the composition. The resulting pomegranate decoction for diarrhea is taken on an empty stomach.
  3. Mix pomegranate peels in powder form with boiling water and place in a steam bath. Add chopped walnuts to the mixture and cook until half the liquid has evaporated. Use the composition 30 minutes before meals.
  4. Pomegranate peel powder can be mixed with celandine, ginger or dandelion root. The resulting composition is poured with hot water and left to infuse for half an hour. It is recommended to consume the mixture before meals.

You should not combine pomegranate peel with antidiarrheal, antiparasitic and antihistamine medications. It is very harmful to take the medicine while drinking alcohol.

If the decoction of the peels is used incorrectly, there are side effects. They most often occur due to excess dosage or improper brewing. Complications appear in the form of nausea, vomiting, colitis, dizziness, increased blood pressure, and pain in the lower abdomen. If the patient suffers from gastritis, it worsens. Alkaloids in the crusts lead to poisoning in large dosages.

Preparation of decoction and infusion

For treatment, you can use a water infusion or a decoction of pomegranate peels.

To prepare the infusion, the peels are poured with boiling water in a glass container. For 10 g of dry raw materials take 200 g of water. The solution is covered and left warm for 20 minutes. Using a thermos will add convenience to cooking.

The decoction is prepared in the same proportion. The peels are poured with water and boiled in a water bath for 15 minutes.

There is no need to strain the decoction and infusion. As they are used, add boiling water.

If the disorder occurs when there are no prepared dry peels at hand, you can prepare a remedy from fresh ones. They also need to be cleaned of the white inside and crushed as much as possible. But for brewing, take a larger amount - 15-20 g.

A properly brewed solution is transparent and yellow in color. It tastes sour and bitter, tart.

Polyphenols are among the most powerful antioxidants - they prevent the growth and reproduction of dysentery bacilli.

Fresh pomegranate should be thoroughly washed and peeled, cutting off the white pulp, which does not contain any useful elements, from its peel. The crust should then be laid out on gauze or a towel to dry, covered with a napkin and turned over from time to time. If we are talking about repeated use of peels, they should be wrapped in paper or in a clean jar to avoid moisture getting on them.

Then 10 grams of dried pomegranate peels are poured into a glass of fresh boiling water. It makes sense to first grind the crusts in a mortar or coffee grinder. The dishes containing the crusts are covered with a lid and infused for half an hour.

If we are talking about the need to treat diarrhea, then at the first dose you should drink half a glass of the decoction. After ten minutes, the decoction begins to have its effect and the patient’s condition improves significantly.

If complete recovery does not occur, you should drink all the remaining liquid.

Another method of reception is possible. If there are concerns that half a glass is too much for the body, you can drink two teaspoons five times a day if you have diarrhea.

In the event that it was not possible to cook and dry the peels, fresh peels can be used. True, it should be insisted until the water in the glass is colored and the glass must be drunk in one go.

Pomegranate peels for worms

Pomegranate peels for worms are among traditional medicine, very effective in the fight against all kinds of parasites.

Moreover, the danger of infection with worms can lurk anywhere: it can be unwashed hands, poorly prepared fruits and vegetables, meat, through which worm eggs can enter the body.

No one, even the strongest immunity, can help against worms. If traditional treatment methods do not provide adequate help, it makes sense to use proven folk remedies.

The recipe for preparing a decoction for worms from pomegranate peels is simple. Both dried peels and fairly fresh ones are suitable for it. They must be separated from the white part and crushed in an amount of 50-60 grams, then left in half a liter of cold water for 5-6 hours.

They should then be simmered over low heat until approximately half of the liquid has evaporated. The resulting decoction is filtered and drunk on an empty stomach in small portions at regular intervals. To remove dead worms from the body, you should drink a laxative about an hour after taking the decoction.

In addition, it seems advisable to use an enema due to the fact that when parasites leave the body, they can leave behind decay products.

Choosing the right fruit

It is necessary to choose a ripe pomegranate, as evidenced by the crust. The peel of the fruit should be slightly tighter than the grains. The smoothness of the pomegranate peel indicates that the fruit was picked before ripening. Unripe pomegranate peels should not be used due to the lack of medicinal substances.

You should also examine the place on the fruit where the flower was located - there should be no greenery there. When you feel the fruit, there should be a feeling of hardness. The softness of the fruit indicates improper transportation.

To prepare the medicine, pomegranate peels must be of good quality. If there is rot or mold in at least one place, the pomegranate peel will not have a healing effect.

The peels removed from the fruit are cleared of the mass that separates the peel from the grains. The peeled peel is cut into pieces, after drying, stored in natural conditions, using hermetically sealed glass containers in a dry place without access to light.

It is important to know

The pomegranate peel contains a small amount of toxic substances. Exceeding the dosage of the decoction leads to dizziness, convulsions, nausea, and increased blood pressure.
