Medicines against pinworms in adults

What are pinworms and the pattern of infection of the human body

What are pinworms?
Enterobiasis can only be detected in humans. Animals carry pinworm eggs, but do not become infected with them. The disease most often affects children from 2 to 10 years old, i.e. those who like active contact with domestic and street animals. Children do not always wash their hands before eating, which can cause infection. Enterobiasis also occurs in people and other age categories.

Living in hot countries with high temperatures provides little guarantee that the disease is less common. Pinworms do not survive sunny, hot places well.

Scheme of infection of the human body with pinworms:

  • If you do not wash your hands with soap, the worm egg enters the oral cavity and then into the small intestine;
  • The egg gradually matures inside the body and turns into a larva, which subsequently attaches to the walls of the small intestine;
  • After 14 calendar days, the larva turns into a mature individual (pinworm) and finds nutrition in the form of the contents of the small intestine;
  • The female pinworm penetrates the rectum and lays new eggs in the folds of the anus (about 10,000 at a time);
  • New larvae that appear cause irritation in the anus and a person, scratching it, becomes a carrier of this disease.

Symptoms accompanying enterobiasis:

  • Itching in the anus;
  • Abdominal colic;
  • Vaginal itching in girls;
  • Diarrhea with possible mucus;
  • Dizziness, nausea and constant weakness;
  • Grinding of teeth in sleep;
  • Allergic manifestations;
  • Loss in weight category, loss of body weight;
  • Anemia due to lack of nutrients (mainly iron).

Enterobiasis is a parasitic disease caused by roundworms from the nematode family, pinworms. In appearance, the body of the worm is white, in females it has a pointed tip, in males the back part is tucked under itself. Adult females reach a length of up to 9 mm, males - 2-5 mm. Parasites live in the lower part of the small intestine, appendix, and cecum.

At the anterior end of the body of pinworms there is a swelling surrounding the oral cavity. With its help, parasites attach to the intestinal walls, feed and move throughout the host’s body. After fertilization, the male dies, and the female’s body is completely filled with eggs. At night, when the host’s body is at rest, the females crawl out through the anus and lay eggs in the human perineum or on the perianal folds. After giving birth, the female dies.

As pinworms move through the intestines, a person experiences severe itching in the anus. When scratching the skin, the eggs fall on the skin of the hands and under the nails, from where they move onto common objects (furniture, toys, towels) or into the person’s mouth - this is how secondary infection occurs, and the life cycle of the parasites repeats.

Tablets and medicines for pinworms for adults

Anti-pinworm tablets are designed to remove these worms from the patient’s body. Modern drugs are affordable and highly effective. Most often, a single dose of the drug is enough to get rid of enterobiasis. Most tablets for the treatment of pinworms have a detrimental effect not only on adult worms, but also on their eggs.

Why are pinworms dangerous in adults?

Pinworms cause a disease called enterobiasis. This parasitic infestation is more common among children, however, there are many adults in the world who are carriers of pinworms. This is explained by the high viability of helminth eggs. They retain the ability to invade for several weeks, even if they are outside the human body. Pinworm eggs are found in room dust, on clothes, on bedding, on household items, on furniture, etc.

It is very easy to become infected with enterobiasis, especially if personal hygiene rules are insufficiently observed. Children are frequent carriers of pinworms, since their digestive system, which is not fully formed, is not able to cope with the parasites. Adults also suffer from enterobiasis; people with low stomach acidity are at increased risk.

In addition, any adult can become infected with pinworms from their child. The transmission mechanism of infection is airborne or contact.

Medicines for pinworms are prescribed by a doctor after the diagnosis is confirmed. Undoubted proof of the presence of parasites in the body is the independent detection of worms in the feces. The sooner a person starts taking tablets against pinworms, the less harm the worms will cause to his health.

Anal itching is far from the only symptom of the presence of pinworms in the body.

These parasites cause serious health problems such as:

  • Fall of immunity.
  • Allergic reactions, which most often manifest themselves as itchy rashes on the skin.
  • Disruption of the digestive process, development of gastritis in a chronic form.
  • Inflammation of the intestine due to mechanical damage to its mucous membrane by worms.
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome, decreased performance.

Women with enterobiasis often suffer from vaginitis, as worms can crawl into the vagina and cause inflammation of the genital organs. Medicine knows of cases where parasites penetrated the uterus and the peritoneal cavity, which led to serious inflammation and disturbances in the functioning of the body.

Taking medication for pinworms is a prerequisite for getting rid of worms. It is impossible to destroy them without drug treatment.

Features of taking pills in adults

Therapy of enterobiasis, like any other parasitic disease, is within the competence of an infectious disease specialist or a parasitologist. To determine the type of worms, the doctor will write the patient a referral for testing. Only after a high-quality diagnosis can you choose tablets for pinworms or other parasites that will actually give the desired effect.

Under no circumstances should you engage in self-treatment or purchase medications for worms without appropriate prescriptions, since they all have a toxic effect. Moreover, incorrect calculation of the dose, or violation of the frequency of dosing of medications significantly increases the risk of side effects and complications of therapy.

Medicines for pinworms come in several forms, including:

  • Pills;
  • Suspensions;
  • Candles;
  • Drops.

Adult patients are most often prescribed tablet forms of drugs. The liquid form is more suitable for treating children.

Tablets are convenient because they have a standard dosage. This makes it easy to calculate the required amount of medication that needs to be taken to get rid of parasites.

The course of treatment for enterobiasis can vary from 1 to 3 days. After two weeks, the course must be repeated again, which will ensure a lasting effect from the therapy.

How do tablets for pinworms work? Medicines for pinworms have a toxic effect not only on worms, but also on the human body. However, if the dose is chosen correctly, there will be no side effects.

Some medications do not kill pinworms, but simply paralyze them. As a result, the worms leave the intestines alive, but immobilized.

Some drugs are harmful not only to adult pinworms, but also to their eggs. Metabolic processes in the body of worms are disrupted, and they are unable to continue to carry out their life activities.

How to get rid of parasite eggs at home. Preventing self-infection

What are pinworms

Pinworms lay eggs mainly at night. During sleep, the sphincter of the rectum relaxes and parasites crawl out freely. The cause of itching is the secretion that female pinworms secrete while laying eggs. When scratching, parasite eggs fall on the hands and under the nails, are spread to adjacent areas of the skin, linen and clothing, and end up on furniture and household items, toys, door handles, etc.

  1. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (soap twice). Keep your nails short. Eliminate the habit of biting your nails.
  2. Be sure to wash your perineum with soap at night and in the morning. To prevent the spread of pinworms, generously lubricate the perianal area with Vaseline.
  3. At night, wear panties with elastic around your legs. Change panties daily. Wash them in the morning and after drying, iron them with a hot iron.
  4. It is recommended to administer soda cleansing enemas at night. For adults, it is recommended to take 4 - 5 glasses of water, for children - 1 - 3. For each glass, add ½ teaspoon of soda to the water. An enema cleanses the lower part of the large intestine well from female pinworms.
  5. Frequent bathing is recommended during treatment.
  6. After each use, pour boiling water over the children's potty.
  7. Change bed linen daily for the first 3-5 days of treatment, then at least once a week. To avoid scattering of eggs, remove night clothes and underwear carefully, wash (at a temperature of at least 60 0 C) or boil and iron with a hot iron.
  8. When a patient is identified, and in the next week, carry out wet cleaning in the apartment every day using disinfectants. Thoroughly wipe door handles, switches, floors, baseboards, ventilation grilles - wherever dust accumulates and the patient’s hands touch, paying special attention to the bathroom. Rinse the cloth thoroughly in running water. When cleaning the room, use a vacuum cleaner. Shake out pillows, blankets, mattresses and carpets only outside.
  9. Pinworm eggs do not tolerate frost, so in winter it is recommended to leave things, including children's toys, in the cold for 2 - 3 hours.
  10. Wash rubber and plastic toys in a disinfectant solution. Take soft toys out into the cold and vacuum them.
  11. The ultraviolet light emitted by a quartz lamp has a detrimental effect on parasites. Quartzing bedrooms, playrooms, soft toys, etc. during an epidemic gives excellent results.
  12. Pomegranate juice, garlic, carrots, strawberries and walnuts are used to remove parasites. A favorite folk remedy for pinworms is garlic infusion enemas.
  13. Constantly carry out sanitary and hygienic education of children. Instill in children the skills of personal hygiene, wean them from the habit of biting their nails and putting foreign objects in their mouths, wash their hands frequently and correctly, etc.

Rice. 14. The process of hand washing removes most of the pathogenic flora.

How can you get infected?

Enterobiasis carriers are children or adults who are infected with pinworms. Infection occurs from person to person through a handshake, through household items, door handles, clothes, all those objects that the patient touched, if you do not wash your hands after contact and eat food with dirty hands. Pinworm eggs can also come into contact with food from flies and cockroaches, or be found on the fur of pets.

The female pinworm enters the human intestine orally, through dirty hands that receive worm eggs. Next, she mates with a male representative and then migrates to the human large intestine, where she receives nutrition, and after 4 weeks she moves to the rectum, where at night she crawls to the anus and lays up to 15 thousand eggs on the skin near the anus.

The child or adult then experiences itching in the anus, and scratching the itchy area allows pinworm eggs to land on the patient’s hands and under the nails. Further, the mechanism of self-infection and infection of others is clear. If you have overgrown long nails, do not wash your hands after combing, after using the toilet, before eating, thousands of eggs settle on everything that an infected person touches. This contributes to the further spread of nematodes, getting from under nails, beds, and underwear onto the hands of other children and adults.

Prevention of enterobiasis in the family

Pinworm infection occurs through the fecal-oral route. After helminth eggs are transferred to the oral cavity, pinworms penetrate the human body and begin to multiply. In this case, the patient infects other people by touching household objects (contact-household method). The disease can also be transmitted through a handshake. Sometimes autoinvasion occurs, when helminths re-enter the patient’s body, resulting in the disease developing further.

It is possible to become infected with pinworms:

  • when scratching an itchy area near the anus, while pinworm eggs remain on the hands and under the nails;
  • when shaking the laundry, eggs that are there may be swallowed;
  • through a handshake;
  • through household items, clothing;
  • from animal fur, where eggs got in with dust;
  • through food on which the eggs were found with the help of flies;
  • repeatedly when the patient infects himself due to poor personal hygiene.

Video on the topic: What is enterobiasis

It is quite possible to get rid of pinworms by taking medication, but it is also worth taking measures to prevent re-infection. To do this, you should follow the rules of personal hygiene:

  • wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilet, visiting public places, walking, and before eating;
  • Do not scratch itchy areas;
  • have short-cut nails;
  • thoroughly disinfect the toilet;
  • regularly carry out wet cleaning of the home;
  • boil and iron underwear and bed linen.

It is important to remember that if enterobiasis is detected in one family member, this does not mean that by treating it, you have protected the household. There is a possibility that others are also infected with pinworms, it just hasn’t manifested itself clinically yet. The risk of infection is high, since many household items are shared.

Therefore, it is recommended to begin treatment for a family member infected with pinworms, and in parallel with him, take preventive doses of anthelmintic drugs and everyone else. If this is not done, then unpleasant consequences are possible.

During and after completion of treatment and prevention, all family members must wet clean the house daily. This must be done with disinfectants, preferably chlorine-containing ones.

A person infected with pinworms must change bed and underwear daily, followed by boiling them. Underwear should also be ironed on both sides, paying attention to folds and seams.

Treatment

Enterobiasis is a serious parasitic disease, for the treatment of which doctors choose an integrated approach. Antiparasitic drugs for pinworms in adults are mandatory - Nemozol, Vormin, Levamisole and others. After anthelmintic therapy, sorbents (Enterosgel, activated carbon) are used.

To restore the intestinal microflora and suppress the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, probiotics are prescribed - Linex, Hilak Forte, Acipol, Acilact, Bifiform. To strengthen the immune system in severe cases, the doctor may recommend immunostimulating drugs and special vitamin supplements. If pinworms cause allergies, in addition to antimicrobial agents, antihistamines are prescribed - Citrine, Zodak, Loratadine.

Anthelmintics are available in several dosage forms - tablets and suppositories. Which of them is better to choose to achieve a quick effect, the doctor decides based on test results and the individual characteristics of the patient. Popular anthelmintic drugs are:

  • Pyrantel - tablets for pinworms in adults with a mild effect. The drug contains the only active ingredient - pyrantel. It blocks the neuromuscular impulses of parasites, leading to their death. Removal of helminth remains occurs along with feces. The drug is taken once, the dosage is calculated based on the patient’s weight - 10 mg/kg. Pyrantel has no contraindications, except for hypersensitivity, and rarely causes adverse reactions.
  • Decaris is anthelmintic tablets that disrupt the bioenergetic processes of helminths. The active ingredient is levamisole hydrochloride. For adults, Dekaris is prescribed as a single dose of 150 mg. While taking the medication, headaches, nausea, and rapid heartbeat may occur. The medicine is contraindicated during breastfeeding, with agranulocytosis.
  • Nemozol is an anthelmintic drug whose action is based on suppressing the polymerization of beta-tubulin in helminths. The active component of the drug is albendazole. Tablets for adults are prescribed in a daily dosage of 0.4 g. The drug is contraindicated in cases of retinal damage, pregnancy, and impaired hematopoietic function. Sometimes, while taking Nemozol, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash may occur.
  • Vermox is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic. The active ingredient, mebendazole, interferes with the utilization of glucose and depletes the tissues of pinworms. For adults and children over 12 years of age, Vermox is prescribed 100 mg once a day. The course of treatment is 3 days. While taking the tablets, side effects are minor, but the medicine is contraindicated for ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, liver disease, during pregnancy and lactation. An analogue of Vermox for the active substance is Vormin.
  • Carbendacim is an anthelmintic drug based on benzimidazole derivatives. The active component paralyzes the muscular system of roundworms, as a result of which they lose the ability to fixate in the intestines. When pinworms are detected, the dosage for adults is calculated on the scale - 10 mg/kg. The duration of treatment is one day. Carbendacim is prescribed with caution during pregnancy and lactation. While taking the pills, an allergic reaction, weakness and nausea may occur.

During pregnancy or due to intolerance to semi-synthetic active ingredients, the use of many drugs becomes difficult. In this case, it is worth taking a closer look at herbal medicines. Girudotex and Gelmavitol suppositories have a large number of positive reviews. They contain extracts of tansy, wormwood, garlic, pumpkin seed oil and cocoa. Suppositories are administered 1 piece per day after bowel movement. The course of treatment is 3-4 days.

To increase the effectiveness of drug therapy, reduce the load on the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract), and stabilize the intestinal microflora, doctors recommend switching to dietary nutrition during treatment. The basis of the diet should be fermented milk products, fresh herbs, nuts, and low-fat broths.

  • flour or confectionery products, sweet pastries;
  • fried or fatty foods;
  • vegetables with a high percentage of starch;
  • bananas;
  • sweet grape varieties;
  • potato;
  • pasta;
  • alcohol.

Folk remedies

Along with traditional medicine, traditional medicine recipes can be used as adjuvant therapy. They reduce the symptoms of enterobiasis and help quickly remove pinworms after they die. Garlic enemas, castor oil, pumpkin seeds and milk tincture with tansy have proven themselves to be effective. The following recipes have proven to be no less effective in practice:

  • Chop one medium-sized onion and pour a glass of boiling water. Cover the container with a lid, leave for 12 hours, then strain. Take the medicinal drink ½ glass per day for 4 days.
  • Take tansy flowers, chamomile, yellow gentian root 1 tbsp. l., 2 tbsp. l. bitter wormwood, 3 tbsp. l. buckthorn bark. From the total mass, measure 1 tbsp. l. mixture, brew in a thermos overnight, pour 1 glass of boiling water. Strain the finished infusion, take 1 glass in the morning and evening for three days.
  • Take 1 tbsp. l. crushed oak bark and valerian root. Pour 500 ml of boiling water over the raw materials, cover the container with a lid. Infuse the medicine for at least three hours. It is recommended to use the product in the morning on an empty stomach. The course of treatment is 10 days. To enhance effectiveness, 1-2 hours after taking the tincture, you need to eat a clove of garlic and drink 3 tbsp. l. vegetable or olive oil.

It is necessary to treat pinworms using traditional methods while observing all safety measures. This therapy is contraindicated for patients who have disorders of the digestive tract - complicated gastritis, ulcers, Crohn's disease, nonspecific colitis or pancreatitis. Pregnant women can take decoctions or infusions only after consulting a doctor, since some types of medicinal herbs cause uterine contractions and can cause miscarriage or early labor.

Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment is carried out 3 and 4 weeks after the end of treatment using microscopic examination of perianal scrapings daily for 3 days or every other day.

By observing basic rules of personal hygiene, adults are free from pinworms without treatment within one month.

If a patient with enterobiasis is identified, all family members should be treated.

Rice. 12. Pinworms in feces.

It is quite easy to become infected with parasites, even for an adult. Helminth eggs enter the digestive system through the mouth when a person licks dirty hands. Pinworms in adults can be treated at home using safe products.

Enterobiasis is quite easy to treat if you use properly selected drugs that do not have a toxic effect on the body.

If you experience these symptoms, you should definitely consult a doctor:

  • the appearance of small worms in feces;
  • stool disorder;
  • loss of appetite;
  • itching around the anus;
  • stomach ache.

These are the most characteristic symptoms observed in most patients. There are times when a person only feels constant fatigue or lethargy.

Important! Everyone tolerates the presence of pinworms in the body differently. Sometimes all symptoms or only one may be present at the same time.

If this condition lasts for a long time, you should definitely contact an infectious disease specialist or parasitologist to undergo a full examination. If tests show that you have pinworms, you should begin treatment immediately. The sooner you do this, the easier it will be to get rid of parasites.

Pills on the palm

There are many different drugs for the treatment of enterobiasis, each of which has certain characteristics when used. When prescribing medication for worms, you need to consider:

  • person's age;
  • body weight;
  • accompanying illnesses;
  • degree of helminth damage.

After all the necessary tests, the doctor will assess your condition and prescribe a remedy that will be suitable for you.

Important! Many drugs are contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Tablets are used against worms:

  • Pyrantel;
  • Piperazine;
  • Vermox;
  • Dekaris;

Treatment with tablets is effective in the fight against pinworms if a sufficient dosage is used. Each medicine must be taken again after 10-14 days in order to completely remove all parasites and prevent re-infection.

Pirantel

A broad-spectrum drug. Used in the treatment of:

  • ascariasis;
  • hookworm;
  • enterobiasis.

The medicine acts on mature worms and their larvae. To get rid of them you need to take several Pyrantel tablets in the morning after meals, at a rate of 10 mg/kg. The tablets must be chewed for them to work.

This is a fairly effective remedy for pinworms in adults, but sometimes minor side effects occur - nausea, diarrhea, vomiting.

Vermox

Nemozol tablets in packaging

Often prescribed to patients with enterobiasis or trichuriasis. The product is quite safe. It is practically not absorbed through the intestinal walls.

Important! Vermok is contraindicated in case of chronic liver diseases, ulcerative colitis or individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

To get rid of pinworms you need to take 0.1 g of the product. It is recommended to take the tablets with water to enhance their effect.

Sometimes minor side effects are observed - nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness.

Nemozol

The drug has a detrimental effect on pinworms at different stages of development - from eggs to full-fledged worms. Can be used for mixed helminthiases and giardiasis.

For pinworms, you need to take 0.4 g of the drug once with food.

If the treatment regimen is chosen incorrectly, side effects may occur:

  • headache;
  • nausea;
  • skin rash;
  • vomit;
  • temperature increase.

Treatment with Nemozol should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor so as not to harm your body.

Features of treatment

If we are talking about pinworms: how to treat, what medications to choose, then the decision should be made only by the attending physician, in order to avoid complications and serious consequences, you should not take medications without permission.

Most medications and folk remedies have a lot of contraindications, this applies to people with problems in the functioning of the central nervous system, renal failure, and allergies to the constituent components of medications.

Various forms of medications can cause side effects:

  • abdominal pain;
  • gagging;
  • dizziness;
  • weakness in the body;
  • convulsions;
  • emotional disorders.

In case of overdose, you need to urgently rinse your stomach and take the sorbent. For the medications to have the maximum effect, you need to avoid foods that can harden the stool. Additionally, you will need to take laxative medications.

The best and effective remedies for pinworms (enterobiasis) for adults and children

The girl has insomnia

One of the most common helminth infections is enterobiasis. In most cases, patients are children aged 2 to 10 years. This is associated with playing in the sand and with pets. At the same time, kids forget to wash their hands before sitting down at the table.

As soon as the first signs of helminthiasis appear, you should seek help from a specialist who will make a diagnosis and tell you what the best remedy for pinworms can help in a given situation.

You should know that a parasite such as pinworm does not tolerate sunlight. It is for this reason that the disease is much less common in regions with hot climatic conditions.

After the diagnosis has confirmed helminthic infestation, the doctor prescribes the patient a good, effective remedy for pinworms. Medicines are selected individually, as some people may have intolerance to certain elements. Also, the choice of medication may depend on the number of helminths in the body.

How to choose the most effective remedy for pinworms? Currently, you can find a huge range of drugs in pharmacies, but doctors prefer to choose from the following list of medications:

  • Decaris. Due to its structure, the medication is capable of paralyzing the nervous system of an adult worm. After this, the parasite will be naturally eliminated from the body over the next 24 hours. This remedy for pinworms in adults, in overdose, can cause vomiting, abdominal cramps, headache, convulsions and dizziness;
  • Pirantel. This pinworm remedy can be used to treat children. The only thing that is recommended to remember is that up to 6 months the drug is best given under the supervision of doctors. If helminthiasis occurs in children, it is recommended to visit a pediatrician, since independent choice of medications can lead to complications.

Parents should know that treatment for children is practically no different from treatment for adults. The only difficulty is in choosing medications. It is best if you choose an effective remedy for pinworms in children, so that the baby’s body is quickly cleansed. Many doctors prefer to prescribe Pirantel to their child.

To make treatment faster, many parents prefer to combine traditional medicine with folk recipes. After adult worms are eliminated, treatment should be repeated after 2 weeks. During this period of time, larvae will hatch from the eggs. If you do not get rid of them, re-infection with helminthiasis will occur. Even a good remedy for pinworms will not rid a child of the disease in one go.

It is recommended that a sick child not be allowed into kindergarten, and that the teacher be notified of the illness. One of the parents will have to stay close to the baby, despite the fact that the disease is not serious. It should be remembered that with enterobiasis, doctors do not open sick leave, which will negatively affect work.

Regardless of what remedy for enterobiasis was prescribed by a specialist, even if it is the best, it is recommended to treat the premises in order to eliminate the larvae that have entered the external environment. In this case, infection of other family members can be prevented.

Treatment may be ineffective if the room in which the patients were located is not treated. This is especially true for preschool institutions. You should purchase disinfectants used for enterobiasis. After this, it is recommended to treat the surface of the furniture and air.

To carry out the treatment, you need to spray the room, and then wipe everything with disinfection and disinfestation agents recommended for helminthiasis. Once the hard surfaces are finished, you need to move on to the soft furniture. You can use a vacuum cleaner to process it. The treated furniture should be moved to the storage room for 2-3 days.

Don't forget about underwear and clothes. It is recommended to boil these things in a 2% aqueous solution of soda ash for 2 minutes. You can also use a 2% soap-soda solution, as this is the best way to combat pinworms.

Children constantly play with toys, so they may also contain parasite eggs. It is recommended to treat them with a hot 2% soap-soda solution. In this case, the temperature of the solution should not be lower than 80 degrees. This effective remedy against pinworms will quickly eliminate parasite eggs from toys.

Do not forget about feces, since they may contain not only adult parasites, but also its eggs. After the baby has emptied his intestines, it is recommended to disinfect with special preparations.

You should be careful when choosing the most powerful pinworm treatment. Some substances can affect the body even of an adult, so before using them, you should read the instructions.

No matter how effective pinworm remedies for adults are, it is better to prevent infection with enterobiasis. To do this, just follow simple rules:

  • You need to remember the rules of personal hygiene;
  • Vegetables and fruits should be consumed only after treatment with hot water;
  • Fish and meat must be thoroughly cooked;
  • Wet cleaning of the premises should be carried out at least once a week.

Following these simple rules will reduce the likelihood of pinworms appearing in the body. Some doctors advise adults to take the most effective remedy for pinworms once every six months as a preventive measure. Thus, even emerging parasites will be eliminated.

In addition to traditional methods of treatment, traditional medicine recipes can also be used as a cure for pinworms. Among the most effective and efficient folk remedies are:

  • Enema. You need to boil 1 large head of garlic in a glass of milk. Then strain the broth through a fine strainer and cool. Use as an enema solution, which is preferably given before bedtime. Dosage for an adult: 1 glass, for a child – ½ part of a glass. The duration of the procedures is 7 calendar days.

Most medications are available in tablet form, as they are considered most convenient for oral administration. To avoid re-infection of the baby, it is necessary to undergo treatment with the whole family.

Preparations for pinworms affect the metabolic processes of parasites and cause their death. Other drugs, by disrupting the transmission of neuromuscular impulses, paralyze pinworms, which facilitates their elimination.

Adult parasites exhibit high sensitivity to a number of anthelmintic drugs. Young individuals have the ability to exhibit temporary resistance, which is why in the treatment of enterobiasis it is practiced to use 2 or 3 courses with an interval of 3 weeks.

Remedy for pinworms, male fern extract

Male fern extract is a herbal preparation. When taken orally, it affects the muscles of parasites. Muscle paralysis makes it impossible for helminths to attach to the intestinal wall and they are excreted in the feces. Filmaron and phylixic acid (derivatives of filicic acid) contained in the fern rhizome have an anthelmintic effect, which have a powerful effect on tapeworms.

Tenidosis, diphyllobothriasis, hymenolepiasis and enterobiasis are the main indicators for the use of the drug. Male fern extract has a number of side effects and in some cases can lead to the development of complications and poisoning, which is why treatment of helminthic infestation is carried out in a day or regular hospital.
