Roundworms in the blood: symptoms and routes of infection

Roundworms are considered the most common parasite. They belong to the group of roundworms and can parasitize the body of animals and humans. This is a fairly large individual that affects almost all internal organs and systems of the body.

Roundworms in the intestines are the most common occurrence. Ascariasis is accompanied by diverse symptoms and requires timely medical care.

What to do in such a situation? To get started, we recommend reading this article. This article describes in detail methods of controlling parasites. We also recommend that you consult a specialist. Read the article >>>

Ways of penetration of roundworm into the human intestine

Typically, human roundworms enter the body in several ways:

  • eating raw, unprocessed food;
  • drinking raw, low-quality water;
  • failure to comply with personal hygiene rules.

Infection occurs when roundworm eggs enter the digestive system, where they develop into larvae and begin migrating throughout the body through the circulatory system.

Ascaris eggs end up in the soil along with feces. Under favorable conditions, they can remain in the ground for a long period until a person swallows them again.

At the end of their migration, the worms re-enter the intestines and begin to reproduce, laying eggs, which are excreted from the body during bowel movements.

Prevention of ascariasis in adults

The most important preventive measure is maintaining hygiene habits. Washing your hands after using the toilet, just coming from a walk, after contact with animals and working with the ground. It is better to carry out excavation work with gloves. Pets also need prevention; they should undergo regular deworming courses.

Wash vegetables, fruits and berries thoroughly under running water; before cooking, it is better to keep meat and fish in the freezer for at least a day; be sure to follow the heat treatment regime. The warning also concerns the quality of the water consumed; it is unacceptable to drink water from questionable sources.

The dangerous diagnosis of ascariasis may not affect you if you follow preventive measures. In order to be completely sure of the absence of parasitic infestation, especially for people at risk (residents of rural areas, working with the land, in vegetable stores, processing fruit and vegetable products), examination is recommended at least once every 3 months.

Stages of development and lifespan of roundworm in the intestines

The life of this parasite is a vicious circle - it begins and ends in the intestines. A favorable habitat for roundworms is the human body.

An adult female lays about 250 thousand eggs per day, which are hatched from the intestines. This number of eggs is necessary because most of them die in the environment.

StageDescription
1Release of eggs into the environment. A favorable place is moist soil - in it the eggs can retain their potential for about 7 years. The optimal temperature and humidity level force the eggs to develop into larvae.
2A mature larva is not immediately dangerous. It becomes dangerous only after molting, when the parasite is ready to penetrate and develop in the human body.
3After entering the digestive system, the eggs mature into larvae. They differ in microscopic size; the structural features of the body allow it to pass through the intestinal mucosa and enter the circulatory system.
4Together with the blood flow, the larvae migrate first to the liver, then the heart, and lungs. Sometimes the helminth lingers in some organ and parasitizes there.
5The parasite lingers in the lungs for 8-10 days and develops there. Then it moves through the capillaries and respiratory tract to the oral cavity and the person swallows it - the larva again enters the intestines.
6When re-entered into the intestine, the larva already reaches a large size and is no longer able to pass through the walls of the small intestine and migrate throughout the body. It begins to develop (in about 2 weeks) to a sexually mature individual without leaving the intestines. The adult then actively reproduces and lays eggs, which are hatched during defecation - the cycle repeats.

The average lifespan of roundworms is 1 year. Males die after mating.

Diagnostic methods

Doctors have different opinions about the ways in which roundworms enter the liver. Some believe that they grow inside the organ from an egg, others argue that adult individuals penetrate there from the gastrointestinal tract. This is possible if a person already has dysfunction of the biliary tract, which is usually observed with cholelithiasis. Problems with the outflow of secretions facilitate the penetration of worms into the bile ducts.

Laboratory tests for the presence of parasites:

  • stool examination;
  • blood test for antibodies, as well as general analysis;
  • microscopy of the contents of the intestines, bronchi, eye tissues for the presence of larvae;
  • histological examination of tissues taken during surgery.

  • X-ray of the lungs for the presence of infiltrates;
  • detection of roundworm in the liver on ultrasound;
  • laparoscopy (minimal surgical intervention for diagnostics);
  • abdominal x-ray;
  • CT, MRI;
  • endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract.

The symptoms of ascariasis are such that it is often confused with other diseases: treatment is started, but the situation worsens.

Symptoms of infection

In a person who does not have significant health problems, ascariasis can be asymptomatic for a long time. Negative symptoms begin to develop in chronic stages, when the immune system is no longer able to fight the parasite on its own.

Symptoms of infection may be mistaken for other diseases. Typically, roundworm infestation is accompanied by:

  • development of allergies;
  • general weakness, malaise;
  • hyperthermia;
  • cough with sputum and blood;
  • constipation;
  • stomach ache;
  • change in skin color;
  • critical weight loss;
  • anemia;
  • ascariasis toxicosis;
  • excessive salivation;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • intestinal disorders;
  • grinding of teeth;
  • unstable psycho-emotional state;
  • detection of parasites in feces (only in chronic stages).

If you experience a deterioration in your health, it is better to consult a specialist to identify the cause of the disorders and establish adequate methods of therapy - self-medication can significantly aggravate the problem and cause irreparable consequences.

How to get rid of roundworms in the intestines

Treatment of ascariasis requires an integrated approach. The doctor selects a treatment method based on the clinical picture. Typically, anthelmintic drugs are accompanied by the intake of vitamin complexes, immunostimulants, sedatives and sorbents.

Treatment is aimed not only at combating the parasite, but also at quickly restoring the body from damage caused by the life processes of roundworms.

In some cases, the use of folk recipes is allowed.

Treatment of ascariasis is a complex and labor-intensive process. It is better to protect yourself from infection by adhering to preventive measures than to treat the disease for a long period.

If you notice negative symptoms, it is better to consult a doctor - even signs of a cold may indicate an invasion.

Folk remedies

Traditional methods of treating roundworms can be used, but only after prior consultation with a specialist.

Folk remedies for roundworms

Milk with garlic

The most effective folk remedy against worms is milk and garlic. It is very simple to prepare and use the product. Boil a medium-sized head of garlic in one glass of milk, strain the resulting broth and cool. Give an enema with the resulting product every day before going to bed. Can also be used in pediatrics, but in smaller quantities (70 ml of milk and a few cloves of garlic).

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are also a good remedy. They can be consumed in their pure form, or you can prepare a potion - grind the seeds, add a little water and honey. Onion tincture is also common - the peel of this vegetable is infused in vodka or alcohol for 10-14 days, then filtered and drunk 2 tbsp. l. twice a day.

Topic: Parasites are to blame for all troubles!

From: Lyudmila S. ( [email protected] )

Not long ago my health condition worsened. I began to feel constant fatigue, headaches, laziness and some kind of endless apathy appeared. Problems also appeared with the gastrointestinal tract: bloating, diarrhea, pain and bad breath.

I thought it was because of the hard work and hoped that it would go away on its own. But every day I felt worse. The doctors couldn’t really say anything either. Everything seems to be normal, but I feel like my body is not healthy.

I decided to go to a private clinic. Here I was advised, in addition to general tests, to get tested for parasites. So in one of the tests they found parasites in me. According to doctors, these were worms, which 90% of people have and almost everyone is infected, to a greater or lesser extent.

I was prescribed a course of antiparasitic medications. But it didn’t give me any results. A week later, a friend sent me a link to an article where some parasitologist shared real tips on fighting parasites. This article literally saved my life. I followed all the advice that was there and after a couple of days I felt much better!

Digestion improved, headaches went away and the vital energy that I so lacked appeared. To be sure, I took the tests again and no parasites were found!

Anyone who wants to cleanse their body of parasites, no matter what types of these creatures live in you, read this article, I’m 100% sure it will help you! Go to article>>>
